The average American underestimates subscriptions by $133 a month.

In a 2022 C+R Research survey, people guessed they spent $86 a month on subscriptions. The real number was $219. 42% were still paying for something they had stopped using.

How it works

Set it up in ten minutes with a cup of coffee.

  1. Write down each bill

Name, amount, and when it renews. Use your last card statement as a checklist.

  2. Mark what you still use

Charge Watcher adds up what you'd save by canceling the rest, by the month and by the year.

  3. Get a heads-up

Add each renewal to your phone's calendar with one tap, three days before you're charged.

What you get

Everything on one page. Nothing you need a grandkid to explain.

One total, every month

See exactly what your bills cost per month and per year, including the ones that only come once a year.

Price-hike alerts

Enter the new amount when a bill changes and Charge Watcher flags it in red, with the old price beside it.

Renewal reminders

One tap adds a reminder to Google Calendar or your phone, so the charge never surprises you.

How-to-cancel notes

Save the phone number or website for canceling right next to each bill.

A copy for the family

Copy your full bill list in plain text to send to a spouse, child, or whoever handles things if you can't.

Private by design

No bank passwords, ever. Your list stays on your own device.

Pricing

Costs less than the first subscription it helps you cancel.

Questions people ask

Do I have to connect my bank?

No. You type in your bills yourself. That's on purpose: nobody gets your bank password, and you look at each charge with your own eyes.

Can I set this up for my mom or dad?

Yes. Many people set it up on a parent's tablet, fill in the bills together, and keep a family copy for themselves.

Can I give Charge Watcher as a gift?

Yes. Buy a year of Pro for $39. Right after checkout you'll see a gift link to send your parent. When they open it, Pro turns on for them.

What if I get a new phone?

Pro members can copy a backup code and paste it into the new device. It takes about a minute.

How do I cancel Charge Watcher?

Click "Manage my plan" inside the app. One click, no phone call, no guilt trip. We'd be embarrassed to make it hard.

Find out what you're really paying. It takes ten minutes.

Terms of Service

These terms cover your use of Charge Watcher at chargewatcher.com. By using Charge Watcher you agree to them. If you have questions, email help@chargewatcher.com.

What Charge Watcher is

Charge Watcher is a tool for keeping a list of your recurring bills and subscriptions. You enter the information yourself. Charge Watcher does not connect to your bank, pay bills for you, or cancel services for you. It is not financial, legal, or tax advice.

Free and Pro plans

The free plan lets you track up to 5 bills at no cost. Charge Watcher Pro costs $4.99 per month or $39 per year and adds the features listed on our pricing section. Prices are in US dollars.

Billing and renewal

Pro is a subscription. It renews automatically at the end of each month or year, and your card is charged the then-current price, until you cancel. Payments are processed by Stripe. If you buy Pro as a gift, the subscription is billed to your card, not the recipient's.

Canceling

You can cancel any time with "Manage my plan" in the app, or by emailing help@chargewatcher.com. Pro stays on until the end of the period you already paid for, and you won't be charged again.

Refunds

If Charge Watcher doesn't save you more than it costs in your first 30 days as a paying customer, email us within those 30 days and we'll refund your payment in full. After that, payments are not refundable, except where the law requires.

Your information and your list

Your bill list is stored in your own web browser on your own device. You're responsible for keeping a backup. If you clear your browser data or lose your device without a backup, we can't recover your list. See our Privacy Policy for details.

Accuracy and limits

Charge Watcher shows totals and reminders based on what you enter. Always check your actual bills and statements. Charge Watcher is provided "as is." To the fullest extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

Changes

We may update these terms or our prices. If a change affects what you pay, we'll tell you at least 30 days ahead, and you can cancel before it takes effect.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Missouri, USA.

Privacy Policy

Charge Watcher is built to collect as little about you as possible. Questions: help@chargewatcher.com.

Your bill list stays on your device

The bills you enter are saved in your own web browser on your own device. They are not sent to us, and we can't see them. We never ask for your bank login, account numbers, or card numbers for your bills.

When you pay for Pro

Payments are handled by Stripe. Stripe collects your name, email, billing details, and card information so it can charge you and send receipts. We see your name, email, plan, and payment status. We never see your full card number. Stripe's own privacy policy applies to the information it collects.

Calendar reminders and copies

When you tap "Add reminder," a Google Calendar page opens with the bill name, amount, and date filled in. Nothing is saved unless you choose to save it there. Family copies and backups are text you copy and send yourself; we don't receive them.

Email

If you email us, we keep your message and address to answer you. We don't sell or share your information, and we don't send marketing emails unless you ask us to.

Cookies and tracking

Charge Watcher uses no advertising cookies or tracking pixels. Our web host may keep standard server logs, such as IP addresses, for security.

Your choices

You can delete your bill list any time by removing each bill or clearing your browser data. To ask about the information Stripe or we hold about you, email help@chargewatcher.com.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date above.
